He Came To Kill, Steal, And Destroy…What?

by admin on April 21st, 2012 at 2:58 pm
Posted In: Daily Walk, Encouragement

Believe it…worldliness has infiltrated everywhere…sadly even in some denominational teachings. Today, throughout the Church there is a belief that the Devil came to kill those we love, steal our treasures, or destroy our lives…just for the sake of doing it.

In the Bible there are many scriptures, that on the surface, seem to refer to this false teaching in reference to material possessions, mans works, relationships, enterprises, peoples dreams, etc., for the sake of the items…just described…only.

For example:

“Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal. Instead, store up riches for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and robbers cannot break in and steal. For your heart will always be where your riches are.
(Matthew 6:19-21)

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the Kingdom. Sell all your belongings and give the money to the poor. Provide for yourselves purses that don’t wear out, and save your riches in heaven, where they will never decrease, because no thief can get to them, and no moth can destroy them. For your heart will always be where your riches are.
(Luke 12:32-34)

The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life—life in all its fullness.
(John 10:10)

Now do not misunderstand me, the Devil has come “in order to steal, kill, and destroy”.

But my question to you is “why”?

Throughout the Church, mans teachings “speak” of the world…what the Devil wishes to destroy …and the worlds possessions as being “separate” from God’s purpose; meaning the lack of our relationship with God.

In other words, the Devils goal in our lives is not to “simply” to kill, steal, and destroy our material possessions, works, dreams, relationships, enterprises, etc., for the sake of the items…just described…only.

The Devils goal is to get us to “Curse” God in anger by doing these things in our lives.

The Bible says in the Book of Job in Chapter 1:

When the day came for the heavenly beings to appear before the LORD, Satan was there among them. The LORD asked him, “What have you been doing?” Satan answered, “I have been walking here and there, roaming around the earth.” “Did you notice my servant Job?” the LORD asked. “There is no one on earth as faithful and good as he is. He worships me and is careful not to do anything evil.” Satan replied, “Would Job worship you if he got nothing out of it? You have always protected him and his family and everything he owns. You bless everything he does, and you have given him enough cattle to fill the whole country. But now suppose you take away everything he has—he will curse you to your face!” “All right,” the LORD said to Satan, “everything he has is in your power, but you must not hurt Job himself.” So Satan left.
(Job 1:6-12)

And again in Chapter 2:

When the day came for the heavenly beings to appear before the LORD again, Satan was there among them. The LORD asked him, “Where have you been?” Satan answered, “I have been walking here and there, roaming around the earth.” “Did you notice my servant Job?” the LORD asked. “There is no one on earth as faithful and good as he is. He worships me and is careful not to do anything evil. You persuaded me to let you attack him for no reason at all, but Job is still as faithful as ever.” Satan replied, “A person will give up everything in order to stay alive. But now suppose you hurt his body—he will curse you to your face!” So the LORD said to Satan, “All right, he is in your power, but you are not to kill him.” Then Satan left the Lord’s presence and made sores break out all over Job’s body. Job went and sat by the garbage dump and took a piece of broken pottery to scrape his sores. His wife said to him, “You are still as faithful as ever, aren’t you? Why don’t you curse God and die?” Job answered, “You are talking nonsense! When God sends us something good, we welcome it. How can we complain when he sends us trouble?” Even in all this suffering Job said nothing against God.
(Job 2:1-10)

We are so concentrated on this world and the things in this world. Even Pastors and Bible Teachers constantly ask for offerings (money); and it is not for the spreading of the Gospel of Christ. It is for their own enjoyment and status of living!

Walking with God is not “Give Me”, “Bless Me”, or “Do For Me”.

Walking with God is “being concerned…above everything else…with the Kingdom of God and with what Jesus requires of you”.
(Matthew 6:33)

As servants of God, we are to walk with God. We are to give thanks and rejoice in all situations. The Devil has come to destroy our relationship with God in anyway he can, either by killing those we love, stealing our possessions, our destroying our lives. It is not for the sake of merely killing, stealing, or destroying what we have…the goal is to get us to CURSE God; to forsake God’s fellowship, distrust Him, hate Him, be angry with Him, and turn away from Him.

The Prophet Habakkuk recorded it best:

Even though the fig trees have no fruit and no grapes grow on the vines, even though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no grain, even though the sheep all die and the cattle stalls are empty, I will still be joyful and glad, because the LORD God is my savior. The Sovereign LORD gives me strength. He makes me sure-footed as a deer and keeps me safe on the mountains.
(Habakkuk 3:17-19)

The Devil came to destroy your walk with God by using the things of this world. The Devil’s goal is to get you to CURSE God.

Instead, give thanks and rejoice, because the Lord Jesus has counted you worthy to suffer for Him; in other words, Jesus has enough confidence in you to test your faith; Jesus is confident that you will bring Him glory through whatever suffering He has given permission for, and what you are presently going through.

Do not disappoint!

Jesus Loves You!
